Helsby Methodist Church Eco-Fair, 5-6 October 2007
Our church, like everyone, is concerned for the environment and for the future of our planet. There is increasing recognition that much environmental damage has been done by human activities, and that steps must be taken to reduce that damage.
Many of us are not sure what we can do to help. Should we use our cars less, buy a bicycle, refuse to buy over-packed goods, compost our kitchen and garden waste, plant a tree if we use an aeroplane, install double glazing, roof insulation, solar panels or a wind turbine, turn the central heating down?
The Eco-Fair will provide some answers to these and many other questions. Local authorities will show us how they are dealing with waste and improving the environment, companies will provide information on energy-saving devices and how they are going to reduce packaging, utility companies will advise on water and energy use, schools will show how they are educating children to care for the environment, Cheshire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre will be there to give advice, and there will be much more besides. We hope that there will also be talks and DVD presentations during the Eco-Fair. Our church will also be carrying out an environmental audit of our premises.
Provisional times for the Eco-Fair are: Friday 5th October, 10 am to 8 pm; Saturday 6th October, 10 am to 3 pm. There is no entry charge, and refreshments will be available. The Eco-Fair will conclude with the morning service at Helsby Methodist Church on Sunday 7th October.
