Observe a time for creation, between 1 September and 4 October, for the protection of God’s creation and the promotion of sustainable lifestyles. Churches Together in Britain and Ireland has put together a programme of resources to encourage and assist churches to observe a Time for Creation in 2010. Our theme this year is Creation Flourishing – A time for Celebration and Care, linking into the United Nations International Year of Biodiversity. Read more
Due to popular demand, the Small is… Festival is back and will be held on the 4th and 5th of September 2010.
We hope to recreate the wonderful participatory feel of last year, including the fun but productive atmosphere, the open debates, the lively networking and exchange sessions, and the international feel – but with local food and hospitality very evident.
However, the festival will be bigger and better this year, with increased opportunties to get involved, get debating, get sharing, and have a great time! With hands-on workshops, stalls and information sharing spaces, kids activities and great world music, there is something for everyone!
Churches across the UK are celebrating Environment Sunday on 6 June 2010, as the United Nations prepares a biodiversity report which will say that the value of saving “natural goods and services” such as pollination, medicines, clean air and water will be worth between 10 and 100 times the cost of saving the habitats and species which produce them. We will be part of a new ‘green zone’ which brings together all the environmental organisations featured in the G Source exhibition tent.
CEL is taking the lead in this area which we will have a display alongside them, A Rocha, Ecocongregation, the Quakers, and others.

Using church land as a model for environmental change.
This conference will cover the importance of church land management. It will also give practical examples of projects and open up opportunities to see what conservation potential church land may hold.
